I believe that it is vitally important for our children to read in both of our national languages and feel comfortable with both of them. This is even more important nowadays as more and more teachers tell you that the standard of English is locally not as good as it has been, even in university graduates. Bi-lingual books are commonplace in overseas populations, such as amongst Spanish-Americans, who speak more than one indigenous language and have been shown to improve the level of English at an early age. By reading the story in the language in which the child is most comfortable, it will make it easier to understand the same story in the alternate language.
